Accutest® SplitCup Interactive Training Program

Step 4 –Interpretation of Results:

Negative: A negative result is indicated by the presence of two colored lines in the result window. One line appears in the C zone (control area) and one line appears in the T or numbered zone (test area). Some Accutest SplitCups test for multiple drugs on one strip. In this case, results are interpreted by matching the number in the result window with the number corresponding to the drug abbreviation.

For example, in this picture, there is a line next to every T and number. This indicates that the Accutest SplitCup is negative for all drugs.

The test line may be any shade of pink and may be weaker or stronger than the control line. A test line of ANY intensity indicates a negative result.

Non-negative: A non-negative test is indicated by the presence of a single line in the control area and the absence of a line in the test or numbered area.

For example, in this picture, notice the presence of a line next to the ‘C’ or Control areas in all windows. This indicates that the test is valid. However, the line next to the T for MDMA (Ecstasy) is missing. In addition, the line next to the number 1 for mAMP (Methamphetamine) is also missing. This indicates a non-negative result for Ecstasy and Methamphetamine. The results are negative for all other drugs tested.

Remember to wait the full 5 minutes before documenting a test as non-negative.

It is important to remember that the Accutest SplitCup is only an initial screen and all non negative results should be confirmed by a SAMHSA certified laboratory.

Invalid: If a control line does not develop in the result window, the test should be considered invalid – regardless of if a line develops in the test area. Improper testing procedures, sample tampering, or test deterioration may have occurred. If an invalid test occurs, a second test should be run.

If at 5 minutes any of the control lines are not visible, then the test must be discarded and considered invalid. All invalid test results must be considered inconclusive and a re-test must be given prior to documenting any result.
